Looking for babysitters

We rarely need a babysitter but our beloved Jenny is graduating from college in May. Since we are relatively new to White Bear Lake we don’t have any back-up options. Do you have a babysitter who you love that you would be willing to recommend/share?

Extended Day-Elementary Round Table

Let's face it, this is the time of year many families are scrambling around to do many things, and preparing to make choices about school selection for the following year is just one of them.

My family is in that boat and I must admit the time just seems to slip away. I have observed in a handful of elementary schools over the past few months and I am excited to see White Bear Montessori aiming to help make the decision process easier by offering a Elementary and Extended Day Round Table discussion 12/16. For more information and time visit the WBMS.org schedule.

Hope to see you there.

Lists for Anything - Giftag

If you are looking for a new way to organize and share your wish lists for the family or yourself this holiday season, check out Giftag.com.

Giftag is a browser plug-in that allows you to capture information from any site and save it to a list of your choice to then share with family or friends. If you are looking for an alternative to long lists of URLs in emails to grandma or the Amazon Universal Wish List, try it out.

I had my doubts if it would be helpful, but the relatives seem to be using it!

Dr. Steve Hughes Talks at WBMS

Dr. Hughes is a pediatric neuropsychologist who spoke about the benefits of a Montessori education tonight. He was really inspiring. If you missed the talk, you can catch some of the information on his website here http://www.goodatdoingthings.com/. My husband didn't make it so I'm walking him through the slides available as PDFs on the site.

Power of "Toys" - Full SIM City Creator Video
If you enjoyed part of the SIM City creator Will Wright video Dr. Hughes shared, here's the full version. I didn't watch the entire piece yet, but the Montessori statement is right at the beginning.

Clothing for Sale on ebay

I just listed some of my son's winter clothing from last year on ebay. Go to advanced search, scroll down to search for a seller, and enter my userid "misslorilou" to find the things I'm listing. If you decide to purchase something, I can always bring that item to school so you don't have to pay shipping.

Amazon Launches Frustration-Free Packaging

If it's ever taken you 30 sweat-filled minutes to "free" your child's gift from its plastic packaging and accompanying twist ties, this is for you.

Since Amazon doesn't have to protect their merchandise against the pressures encountered in physical retail stores, Amazon can send their products without all the excess packaging. This is good for busy parents, impatient children, and most importantly the environment.

Check it out. Happy shopping.
